Monopolies are good. No really, hear me out here. It would be best to organize all the world's brightest minds on a topic to the same company. Some might say that there would be a debilitating cost associated with people who can set any price that they desire, and those people would be right. However, there are limits. People can only charge what the other is willing to pay. Right now we live in a seller's market — people are more likely to find partnerships with other companies than it is likely that consumers will bring themselves together and "fight the man". If we can bring people together and refuse poor service or service based on greed (I'm looking at USA's pharmaceutical businesses), then we can have a society with a healthier economy. Remember how it made you feel last time you treated especially well by a merchant? Did it make you want to use their service again? Would people be encouraged to render useful service if they knew they would be creating lifetime customers?
If people could come together and refuse service from greedy people, then monopolies would be the most efficient business. I'm not sure how long it will be until people remember that "United We Stand". Putting people in a group gives greater output than individuals working separately. This is why people form companies. To see this in nature, put together a bunch of wood, piece by piece and try to break them all together. Then try to break them individually. So, when trying to build a business, put people together that complement each other, and work with one another.
