Life is a journey. A really pleasant one at times. I find myself appreciating my life more each day. Today was a reflection on new opportunities.

You experience every moment once. The present is a gift. It provides new opportunities every day. When that comes to pass you’re onto the next thing. So it is important to take what you’re doing, right now, seriously.

This comes back to me when I start breathing deeply, consciously. Sometimes, I notice myself wanting to do something, but explaining it away in my head. Usually this involves a story about my self-worth or what other people think of me. Basically, putting words and thoughts into other people’s heads based on past experiences that were traumatic. I suppose that is how we know that we need healing. To solve this reparent yourself into allowing new opportunities and experiences by treating each moment with beginner’s mind. By doing this, we allow ourselves to shift to new realities where we break our own mold and the story we tell ourselves. Beginner’s mind is all about treating the experience you are having like you have never experienced it.

It is easy to see beginner’s mind in an example: try this, ask someone a question, and do not anticipate their reply just sit and wait for the answer.

That’s beginner’s mind. It’s all about removing the story and expressing yourself authentically, and allowing others to do the same.

“No, no! The adventures first, explanations take such a dreadful time.” -Lewis Carroll
