This weekend was awesome! I went to the Capitol, Sacramento, with my Dad and Shelly. We prayed, danced, sang, and explored the city. We were there mainly because of Sean Feucht's event: Let Us Worship. The event is a three hour church ceremony with music, preachers and pastors from all over California. The movement attracted roughly twelve thousand people to come freely express their right to free speech and assembly (Amendment 1) this past Sunday.
The connection present was inevitable given the nature of the event. People, laughed, cried and spoke their truth. The opening was given by a member of the California Senate who spoke to endorse the election of honest and just senators as well as the Jesus Freak movement.
There was another speaker who elected to note that he "Heard the Sound" of a great people coming together to rekindle the religious culture of our nation. It resonated with me to hear another speaker note from the bible that Jesus said that his kingdom would be built on the gates of hell as he noted that the times we are in are dark, but that light is coming up and this will all be over soon. Another speaker spoke of his time in Michigan where there were recently riots, and said that he was able to witness riots turning to Revival. Revival of the church and the faith we share.
Of course, Sean shared his sentiments and the change coming as an instrument of these gatherings. It was beautiful to hear about his experience all over the world because it gave me perspective into his strength as a leader of this movement. Given he spent time in war zones with a bulletproof vest it was no surprise to hear him preach even in the most hostile political and social climates like Portland and Seattle, where he was tonight.
The message seemed to be strikingly clear between all of the pastors, speakers and song: Jesus is the authority in all things and sits above our state, national and world governments.
I am excited to watch this movement grow.
"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and under the rule of a just God, cannot long retain it." -Abraham Lincoln
It will all be over soon. Now is the time for people to step up and speak up out of love for ourselves.
